Malayu is the Indonesian language just one of many scores, perhaps hundreds, of different languages in the area now occupied by the Republic of Indonesia. In 1928 the Indonesian nationalist movement chose it as the future nation's national language and the name was changed to Bahasa Indonesia. In English this language is called as ‘Indonesian’, though there is not much of differences in English and Indonesian language

Development of modern Malayu (Indonesian language)
The Malayu language can be divided into five parts such as old Malay, the Transitional Period, the Malacca Period, Late Modern Malayu, and modern Malayu. The Malayu language found a widespread use as the trade language of the Sultanate of Malacca from 1402 to 1511.During this period, the initial Malay language developed rapidly under the influence of Islamic literature. This so called development changed the nature of the language with massive infusion of Arabic, Persian and Hindi or Sanskrit vocabularies. Under the ruling of Sultanate of Malacca the language evolved into a form recognizable to speakers of modern Malay.
